Why Pilates?
“Pilates is only light stretching,” is a sentence we’ve heard too many times from skeptics. After your first hundred exercises, you’ll soon learn that abdominal strength is at the core of each Pilates class.
This exercise technique was born in the 1920s by physical trainer Joseph Pilates and centered on concentration, balance, and lengthening your major muscle groups. During mat Pilates, every part of your body will be worked, but never to exhaustion.
Major benefits include increased energy, improved breathing, and speedy rehabilitation if recovering from injuries. If you’re looking for an exercise routine free of cardio-intensive plyometrics and perfect for individuals at any stage of life, consider joining a Pilates class.
Customized Lessons
When Lisa Massey founded Pretty Please Pilates, she was committed to creating a client-centered approach to fitness. General Pilates classes are easy to find, but at our studio, you can take advantage of lessons tailored to your personal health goals. If you’re a beginner, or living with any injuries, your lesson will include exercise modifications.
Lisa Massey is certified to teach both Pilates, barre, and suspension training. With Lisa as your instructor, you’ll be one step closer to achieving your fitness goals.
One-on-One Guidance
It’s easy to injure yourself, especially when you exercise at home. Poor posture or overworking your body can lead to serious injuries. With Lisa guiding you through a one-on-one Pilates class, you’ll get instant feedback on your posture as well as motivation and inspiration to keep you on track.
With one-on-one lessons, you’ll get the most out of your fitness journey. Whether your goals are purely aesthetic or focused on your general health, Lisa is personally dedicated to transforming your mind, body, and spirit.

A Word from Our Instructor
I started practicing Pilates after having my second child 15 years ago. Being a full-time mom and working in the fashion retail business, I knew I needed an exercise routine that would provide me the best results in the long run. I tried many forms of exercises and the most renowned fitness studios out in the market, but I found all those fitness practices rigid and unrewarding to my fitness goals. When I discovered Pilates, it changed my life tremendously in terms of my mental and physical health, and ultimately my career. I instantly loved the graceful, intuitive, yet challenging nature of the movement, how it can benefit anyone physically. After about five years of studying Pilates as a student, I realized I would need to practice it forever.
This inspired me to share with others, a breakthrough of desiring to become an instructor. I earned my certified teacher program from Club Pilates in 2014 and worked as a full-time instructor now. I have a nickname as Sargent Lisa. When I am teaching a group or private class, I focus on my cheerful encouragement with butt-kicking workouts, all the while keeping it safe and fun. On a daily basis, I am inspired by the changes I see in front of me as I watch my clients build strength and make health a priority. My advice for all my clients: “I’m here to challenge you, you are here to listen to your body and do the best you can.”
I like everything beautiful and I’m still very much into the fashion world (my old job as a fashion retail manager). I am always shopping for the hottest fitness outfit. When I am not in the studio teaching, you will find me in my kitchen, my other happy place. Cooking is my other passion. Eating healthy with homemade meals goes hand-in-hand with your workouts. Stop and ask me for a recipe or two next time when you see me.
